Idebenone Protects
Most consumers understand that antioxidants are good and free radicals are bad. But when it comes to choosing a product consumers are at a loss for further explanation of benefits. Nearly every major skincare brand is using antioxidants, because the need is widely recognized as essential in modern cosmeceutical formulations. But which antioxidants are really the best? Which provide the maximum protection against free radicals and oxidative stress generated by our environment and our metabolism? For example, with SPF you know exactly how much photo-protection your sunscreen delivers because it is printed right on the label. Why is there not a similar protection factor scoring system for antioxidants that is analogous to SPF?
Now there is, for the first time, comparative data on the efficacy of most common topical antioxidants found in the skincare industry has been presented at the American Academy of Dermatology and published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology. A new standard for topical skincare protection has been created – Environmental Protection Factor or EPF – the measure of an antioxidant’s ability to protect against free radicals and oxidative stress. The results –Idebenone outperformed them all, with an EPF rating of 95 (out of a maximum score of 100) better than Vitamin C, Vitamin E, CoQ10, Alpha Lipoic and Kinetin at protecting against premature skin aging caused by environmental oxidative stress, the highest EPF of any antioxidant tested!

Why is this important? Because SPF alone is not enough! SPF does not provide protection against free radicals, sunscreens are not free radical scavengers, and sunscreens do not protect against ozone, cigarette smoke, air pollution, and even oxygen itself. Sunscreens do not even block 100% of UV light so damaging rays still penetrate the skin to form free radicals and damage. Protecting the skin with SPF is like protecting the skin with ”Swiss cheese” – it has got holes in it. EPF is not the cheese, it’s the substance that fills in the holes!
Idebenone does it the best!

EPF + SPF = Total Topical Anti-Aging Skin Protection
Idebenone Corrects: The Mitochondria Story
Idebenone Corrects
Respiratory chain, mitochondria-targeted antioxidants, like Idebenone, are far more effective at alleviating internal cellular oxidative stress than vitamin or botanical antioxidants because they target the internal source of oxidative stress – the mitochondria. Idebenone targets cellular membranes, most importantly the mitochondrial membrane, to protect the cell from the oxidative stress that causes damage and aging.
By effectively neutralizing toxic free radicals, Idebenone reduces cellular oxidative stress to revitalize cells. A good analogy is a factory; if the workers are all tired and stressed and the equipment is in a constant state of disrepair, factory productivity goes down. Its no different for a cell; if the cell is under a constant state of inflammatory oxidative stress, and the cell structures and vital molecules are in a state of disrepair, cell productivity goes down. Cells have the ability to repair themselves but they are always playing catch up because of the constant state of oxidative stress. Idebenone doesn’t correct cells, it provides the environment for cells to repair themselves; healthy cells look better and therefore, you look better.

Superceutical Skincare with Idebenone

Idebenone offers you a new level of Topical Skin Protection – EPF 95 and a whole new level of skin rejuvenation – hyper-potent antioxidant!
It’s tempting to call Idebenone the ultimate source of cell vitality – and it is! Idebenone is a Superceutical™, multi-functional analog of Coenzyme Q10, a natural respiratory chain antioxidant found in all cellular plasma and mitochondrial membranes that plays an essential role in the energy production of a cell. Unfortunately, Coenzyme Q10 is a large molecule that is not easily absorbed through the skin. Its bioengineered analog, Idebenone, is about 60% smaller.
Its smaller molecular size permits Idebenone to be absorbed topically and to be distributed into areas of the skin where it can effectively scavenge and neutralize both external and internal sources of oxidative stress.
Idebenone has been successfully used to treat a variety of age related disorders including Alzheimer’s, heart disease, and cerebrovascular dementia. The anti-aging health benefits of Idebenone have been studied extensively and reported in more than 250 published scientific articles. Visit www.pubmed.gov for more information.
